1940's Thonet bentwood lounge chair. The chair features bentwood arms and legs that have been lacquered in black (the arms and legs are in original condition with some imperfections - see close up images). The chair is heavy, solidly constructed and super comfortable. We had a pair of these chairs about 10 years ago.
They were originally purchased for the lobby of a hotel in the 40's. We can see why they were used for high traffic areas. They can stand up decades of use and still look timeless. We have 10 of these chairs available in the original vinyl upholstery. We priced them individually. Buy 1 or buy all 10. They'd be great for a contract setting (boutique hotel lobby or private club library?).
The original upholstery is worn (understandable after all these years) and it smells musty from storage. These definitely need to be reupholstered. They'd look great in a nubby wool, a dreamy mohair or a luxe new vinyl. You choose. If you're interested in more than one, contact us for a bulk discount.
We can deliver in the Chicago area for $100. If you need a shipping quote for delivery outside of Chicago, contact us. It typically takes a few days to get quotes but we are happy to ship anywhere.
