The Andover chair, designed by Davis Allen for Stendig, is a classic chair known for its blend of Danish Modern, Shaker, and Mission styles. It typically features a solid beech frame with a lacquered finish (often black which is the case with this set) and a spindle back.

The chairs are known for their sturdy construction. When Stendig went out of business, Knoll reintroduced the design and renamed it the Exeter chair.  

We aren't sure if this set is a Stendig model (which would have been made in Italy) or a Knoll set (made in the USA) as this set is unmarked.

It appears the chairs were reupholstered at some point. There is some minor loss to the lacquer (see close up images) but it is mostly bright and intact.
