Product Description

Mid-century John Widdicomb storage piece that was originally used as a dresser.  It would also make a lovely sideboard.  Honey colored finish, gorgeous brass hardware and brass sabots at the feet. Nine drawers are hidden behind 2 sets of cabinet doors. In original condition with some wear consistent with age. (See photos noting scratches on front of cabinet.)

This particular piece is attributed to Bert England.  Bert England's designs for Widdicomb represented a luxurious, highly collectible intersection of Mid-Century Modern functionality and Hollywood Regency elegance. Active primarily during the mid-20th century, England blended premium hardwoods with striking, sculptural metalwork to create prominent statement pieces.

Bert England (1907–1995) was an influential American industrial designer, interior designer, and architect. He is highly celebrated for bridging the gap between clean-lined, functional Mid-Century Modernism and the glamorous, material-focused Hollywood Regency aesthetic.  Throughout his multi-decade career, he left a permanent mark on high-end mid-century design through major West Coast interior projects and partnerships with elite Grand Rapids furniture manufacturers. This is a great example of his work.

Dimensions: 60" W x 32" H x 20" D
