Lovely original mid-century watercolor by listed artist, Atsusho Kikuchi titled, "Fishing Village, Winter".  Original work measures 11" T x 9.5"W and is signed in the lower right hand corner.  It floats on a mat under glass in a frame.  The full size (framed) is 16"T x 14.5"W x 1.5"D.  The frame shows some scuffs (see close up images).  The piece retains the original tag from Everett Oehlschlaeger Galleries which was at 107 E Oak Street in Chicago, IL.

We have 2 pieces listed (framed identically - and the frames are the same size).  The other (another watercolor) is of Chinese junks in the water.

Atsushi Kikuchi was born in Seattle, WA in 1918, but spent his childhood in Japan. He moved to California to study art at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and the Art Center in Los Angeles. In 1942, Kikuchi and his family were placed in an internment camp. In 1946, Kikuchi was inducted into the U.S. Army as a Counter Intelligence Officer. After WWII, he moved to Chicago, where he attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Institute of Chicago. Kikuchi worked as both a commercial and fine artist in Chicago. He exhibited at the Renaissance Society of the University of Chicago and the Art Institute of Chicago, winning the Robert Rice Jenkins Memorial Prize there. In 2016, Kikuchi died at the age of 98 in Knightdale, NC.
