Monumental Harvey Probber Desk and Credenza circa 1959

Stunning desk and credenza combo from Harvey Probber's "Inner Office" executive furniture line.  This set was ordered from Probber at the end of 1959 and delivered to its one and only owner in early 1960.  It features a credenza on one side that have a file drawer below 2 shallow drawers, a cabinet section with 2 sliding doors (adjustable shelves behind them) and one cabinet door that hides a wastebasket.  The desk top is made of teak.  It has a graceful curve and upturned edges that have a Chinoiserie feel.  The right side of the desk rests on the top of the credenza (appearing to float).  The desk is in exceptional condition given its age.  The credenza  has some scratches (particularly on the drawer pulls) and the finish has faded.  It would benefit from refinishing.  We hesitated to do so knowing that the eventual owner may want to choose finish color/stain to match their decor.  The credenza would also look amazing finished in a high gloss lacquer (maybe a traditional Chinese red??).

We have the original receipts from Harvey Probber.  This is a one-of-a-kind desk for a one-of-a-kind office space.

The desk is 99"L (roughly) x 29"H (desk height) x 38"D (desk has a slight curve to it)
